MAR 13 CAMPING UPS AND DOWNS
You can stay at this park for 21 days but our neighbors all seem to be here a couple of days and move on. No doubt the families have settled in for the week of school break. We have to change sites after 2 days but still a lovely spot overlooking the lake and small hills either side, and no close neighbors.
It’s very quiet here, sleep soundly and dark as hell with no lighting and no moon.
Our old non-digital TV does not work despite the fancy new aerial replaced by the insurance company. Also for some reason we can only watch DVDs with the outside power off, so it gets cold in the evening watching for any length of time. We need a 12 year old to fix all this!
Actually our NY neighbor at Tucson (who will unfortunately leave the day after we get back) said he could help us as he’s quite good at this. But we’d need to buy a TV first, not a big expense down here. Maybe a visit to Best Buy or Walmart...
I have been downloading books from Calgary Library and we have some from home, and picked up some en route. So we do a lot of reading. Ted has his difficult Soduko book that keeps him occupied for hours. And I have a MENSA crossword book.
But we’d rather be out there hiking and sitting in the sun when we get back! Or (me!)lounging at the pool.
With the cooler temps and rain, we are not inclined to go any further east as originally planned to the other national and state parks there.
Of course when you can get WIFI it make SA whole lot of difference, listening to music, checking news channels, etc. But with all the gloom and doom about C19 virus and pre US election vitriol, and ongoing idiotic Trump tweeting and firing, there is no upside there.
We get a spurious signal in town that downloads 28 emails, telling us some of our friends have and are heading home already. Two from Palm Springs leaving 5 weeks early due to C19 fears.
Down here, C19 does not seem to be on anyone’s radar, but Ted is giving coughing people a wide berth. Just the usual winter ailments I am sure.
