FEB 14 LOVE IS IN THE AIR
Today I finally found a way to contact Telus, my internet provider, to cancel my service for 2 months. They make it so difficult to do anything and claim to be oh so easy! Yeah.
It’s Presidents Day weekend here so very, very busy everywhere. Breakfast at the hotel is a ZOE but we get on the road and find Shall diesel at $3.10/litre.
At Barstow there is an enormous accident with several trucks, cars all splayed across the road and a 5 mile traffic jam back from it. Fortunately we are going south. This is where our friends Donna/Gord had their car totaled on their way south a few years back. She has never recovered from the damage her back took. It seems half of California is off to Vegas for the weekend.
We pull into the nice beach resort of OCeanside at 4:15pm. the hotel is under renovation but our room with a big balcony looking towards the ocean is good.
After a quick wash we walk to the Barrel Republic brew pub. An amazing place with about 70-8 spigots with all sorts of beer, and some cider and wine too. You get a bracelet, scan it to what you fancy, turn on the tap, you take as much as you want to taste, it’s charged by the ounce. When you turn it on, the screen says your name, how much you poured and what your total pour today has been! You can also order food with the bracelet and when you leave, they just scan it and you pay. Easy! WE order smoked salmon chowder (too hot for me, Ted ate both) and an amazing smoked salmon tower with lemon/dill cream cheese, avocado and tomato/onion layers with tons of crackers. $50 total.
Our friends are down the beach to watch the sunset. Looking forward to that....We went from 10 to 19 degrees today, finally shorts weather.
